What is Idelvion^® ?

Idelvion^® is a medicine. It is a long-acting recombinant coagulation factor IX (FIX) for the treatment of haemophilia B. CSL Behring scientists have linked recombinant factor IX to recombinant albumin. As a result, this factor IX remains available longer in the bloodstream. If a bleeding factor IX is required for blood clotting, then albumin is decoupled and the activated factor IX can do its normal job.

Idelvion^® is also written as recombinant factor IX-FP, or rIX-FP. Both factor IX and albumin are proteins. The coupling (fusion) of these proteins creates a so-called fusion protein. The abbreviation FP stands for. Albumin is a protein that occurs naturally in the blood.
